Jean is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health, Education and Society at the University of Northampton, teaching on the Foundation Degree and BA Learning and Teaching. Before this she was a teacher, art lead, deputy head and headteacher in schools in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.
She wrote and taught the HLTA Primary Art Specialist course which was delivered in Derbyshire and Northamptonshire. This led to the publication of ‘Teaching Primary Art’ (2013), a book written to support TAs, HLTAs and non-specialist teachers of art.
In the last ten years Jean has become increasingly interested in the creative possibilities of digital technology and art. She is the author of ‘Art in the Primary School – Creating Art in the Real and Digital World’ with Dr Helen Caldwell and Dr Rebecca Heaton.
Jean also works as a printmaker, urban sketcher and collage artist, making art inspired by real and imaginary landscapes and environments.
