Introducing Sgraffito using a Coloured Clay Slip on a Terracotta Tile

By Eleanor Somerset

Further explore how to make beautiful sgraffito, or ‘scratched drawings’ with artist Eleanor Somerset.

Sgraffito, or ‘scratching’, is when layers of coloured clay slip are applied to an unfired ceramic body and scratched into to create drawings on clay.

In this post the method is demonstrated by adult students at the Little Art Studio, Sheffield.
