Drawing Skulls in Black Pen
By Sheila Ceccarelli
Challenging Lines: This workshop on drawing skulls was about looking, study and the re-examination of marks and lines. Students used black pen to create continuous line drawings on A1 paper.
This workshop was made possible by the loan of a stunning collection of animal skulls from the University Museum of Zoology, Cambridge.

We could do with some art like this up in the Department! What talented people, really impressive work. Lovely to see our specimens in such a different light.

Thanks Alicia, I’ll pass your comments on to the students – maybe we should plan an exhibition!

Thank you so much for sharing this fabulous art lesson! I work in education within a Museum setting and would love to see more use of museum collections as a primary art resource….this lesson highlights such a resource brilliantly! well done to all those young artists!

So lovely to get such encouraging feedback from someone in the field of museum education. Thank you for taking the time to comment and I will be sure to pass your comments on to my students.
Also – it is fabulous to have lending boxes from such great museums on our doorstep here in Cambridge – i do encourage facilitators to research what’s available near them and let us know – or museum educators please do get in touch if you have something you’d like to share.
Thanks again for your feedback.
best wishes,
Sheila (AccessArt)
