Drawing Flames
This session was inspired by the dark, dark of January.
To gently ease teenagers back into the rhythm of drawing, after the winter break, I led them on several guided drawing exercises exploring mark making to the rhythm of a burning flame.

I love the way the varied and energetic marks fill the whole paper, it makes me feel as if I am right up close to the flames – the teenagers have captured the shifting, flickering lights and the sensation of surrounding heat wonderfully.

Thank you Andrea – I will pass your comments on to the teenagers when I see them this evening. We’re carrying on with this theme and going to cut into some of the drawings to create collages. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!
