Chimera – A Drawing Workshop with Eleanor Somerset
Following drawings sessions looking at plastic toy animals and doing Backwards Forwards Sketching drawings as well as drawing fur, scales and feathers, I decided that the children might like to play god and invent their own beasts.

Hi Jo, how about looking at Eleanor Somerset as your artist? Her work is lovely and she has produced several resources for AccessArt that showcase her practice: https://www.accessart.org.uk/eleanor-somerset/. There’s also a great book called ‘Remarkable Animals’ that allows you to mix and max to create 1000 ‘crazy’ animals’ in a flap book format. It’s illustrated by Tony Meeuwissen and so you could look more closely at his work too.https://www.waterstones.com/book/remarkable-animals-mini-edition/tony-meeuwissen/9781847807625. Links to his work here: https://folioart.co.uk/illustrator/tony-meeuwissen/ Many thanks!
