Zoe Coughlan teaches art to secondary students in an international school in Hong Kong. She views art teaching as being like gardening: setting up fruitful situations and opportunities for students to grow as artists, combined with personalised nurturing and guidance. She is particularly interested in offering young artists wide possibilities for choice and self-direction whilst also expecting high levels of personal engagement and reflection.
In her own artwork, Zoe explores ideas around craft, archaeology, tools, materiality and process. She has a background in ceramics, combined with interests in textiles and printmaking.
