Making a Simple Folded Sketchbook
Making a small “booklet” sketchbook out of a single piece of paper is a handy trick to have up your sleeve! These versatile sketchbooks can be made in a variety of sizes and used for drawing exercises, specific projects or even to accompany pupils on school trips.
Benefits:
-
Flexible – can be used to contain particular drawing exercises or to accompany specific projects.
-
Easy for even young children to make.
-
Keep them together to form one larger “sketchbook” or collection of smaller sketchbooks.
-
Once a booklet is filled, you have the option to open it out back to a single piece of paper to enjoy your drawings in a different format.
You will need:
-
A single sheet of paper.
Process:
1. Fold length ways.

2. Unfold, then fold width ways.

3. Fold width ways again.

4. Unfold. Fold half way width ways once again and cut along the line to the first crease as shown.

5. Turn the sheet over. Pinch the “hills”. Pull them out and down to fold the book. “Pages” will form – crease to secure.
