Making Felt Sailing Boats by Ruth Purdy
By Ruth Purdy
As a freelance artist providing sessions in the care sector, I work with nontraditional audiences in non-traditional arts spaces. My practice relies on working with multiple disciplines and the reinvention of processes and designing for accessibility.
Felt is one of the easiest fabrics to manipulate and provides a wide palette of colour. I combine felt pieces with bright embroidery floss, buttons and beads. I find the best needles for this type of work are chenille or milliners.

Wow, I love your boats Ruth. Thank you for sharing this. What did you use to make the mast? Would dowelling work?
