Developing Sketchbook Work with Pink Pig Sketchbooks
By Paula Briggs
Following on from Drawing with a Ruler, this post shares how children aged 8, 9 and 10 attending an AccessArt Mini Art School developed a body of work in their Pink Pig Sketchbooks.
The work centred around observational drawings of semi-precious stones, which then led on to a more personal collection of drawings with freedom to explore materials. The main aim of these sessions was to provide starting points for the children, in the form of guided exercises and the introduction of materials, which would help build confidence, and then to provide the space, time and encouragement to enable the children to follow their own creative exploration.
