Shipwrecked! A Shadow Puppet Play by Children Aged 10
By Paula Briggs
The brand new AccessArt Friday Club spent a happy six weeks meeting every Friday evening for one hour. The Friday Club takes place in a small summerhouse, and as the nights drew in and it was dark outside and cosy inside, we decided to turn the summerhouse into a theatre and make a shadow puppet play.
Shipwrecked! Shadow Puppet Play
Inline with the aims of the Friday Club, the sessions were largely directed by the children themselves, giving them plenty of time and space to explore their ideas, and work together in a creative collaboration.

What a fantastic project, Paula! – I love the puppets made from all the different materials and especially the thinking and planning just using drawing – inspiring!

Absolutely marvelous Paula and a big congratulations to all the young artists, story tellers and stage designers involved! I had goosebumps when I watched the show and feel greedy to see more! I think these young creatives are ready to set up their own little production company now. The other thing that came to mind is just what a wonderful working environment you have created for them to work in. Wonderful!
