‘Birds in the Trees’ by Pupils at Battyeford Primary School
Natalie Deane, Lead Teacher for Art Craft & Design at Battyeford Primary School shares a project she created for her pupils to develop their drawing and mark-making skills. The children collaged images of birds drawn in biro onto mixed media backgrounds, to produce a set of lively and colourful images.

Natalie, thank you very much for sharing this very inspired project with AccessArt. The final pieces are absolutely stunning and I agree the trees and birds really do look alive and animate. What a brilliant effect the black and white Biro drawing against the rich coloured background and yes the cross hatching marks are very effective on the trees and branches. Makes me want to try it myself or with my teenagers. Thanks for inspiring and sharing this wonderful work. Best wishes, Sheila (AccessArt)
