If you are interested in following the AccessArt Primary Art Curriculum as an art scheme in your school, it’s important that you understand the philosophy and intent behind our work, to ensure that it matches and informs your own understanding and practise of how best to teach art in your school.

It is also important that once you have decided to use the AccessArt Primary Art Curriculum that you bring staff up to speed and help build their understanding of our approach. Our aim is not just to help educate pupils, but also to help build staff skills, confidence and enjoyment in teaching art, whatever their starting point. Consider running staff meetings when you share the above links, and once you are a member of AccessArt, encourage staff to attend our free CPD programme.

I have just revisited the Access Art vision (and intent). Although I am a practising artist with an interest in education, rather than directly linked to a school, I can imagine it how tempting it is to get stuck straight with this curriculum, stimulated by all the exciting ideas, activities and resources. The vision for Access Art is stated in a clear, jargon free way and it resonates with me personally as an artist involved in my own creative journey (or pathway). I am often surprised by the unexpected, diverted and sometimes frustrated by the unknown but each experience brings growth and new understanding which is a great joy in life. Thank-you, Access Art, for clarifying my thoughts. I recommend it to all.
