AccessArt Workshops: Award-winning Online Teaching and Learning Resources

"What a FABULOUS, WELL CONSTRUCTED, INFORMATIVE place to visit and learn! You've made art accessible to everyone - from 3 to 100! Thanks!" Lisa Philpot

What are the AccessArt Online Workshops?

When AccessArt was established in 1999 we realised the potential of the web as a visual learning tool. We wanted to share information with teachers and artists, and to disseminate the ideas of our teaching which took place in schools and the community in the Cambridge area. We developed the notion of the "online workshop" - at the time no-one else had caught on and our work quickly won us awards* and recognition of the potential of the online workshop as a powerful teaching and learning tool.

Kinesthetic Learning

Animation, illustration, sometimes video and sound are combined with carefully chosen text to create an all-round learning experience which is especially suited to kinesthetic or active learners (or to people who learn best by seeing and doing).

Learning for Children and Adults

AccessArt online workshops are aimed at a variety of ages and levels of ability, and many resources are adaptable in that the ideas contained can be modified for different age groups. Search by subject matter using the drop down menu on the left and then the appropriate age range will be displayed on the results page.

What the Online Workshops aim to do...

What we don't aim to do, is to enable the making of virtual or online sculpture, drawing or artwork.

We want to enable, encourage and inspire as many people as possible to have a go at making, painting, drawing, taking photographs...

The online resources are just one part of the overall AccessArt approach: online exploration + print-outs (or PDF's) + links to recommended suppliers = creative experience for the user.

The online resources are aimed at giving users access to the information and inspiration which they need to develop their skills.
